RICHARD W. TEZAK,
MD, MPH Dr. Richard Tezak
joined the Soft Tissue Medical Center (STMC) in 2005, bridging the
gap between medical and chiropractic, creating a full service
medical center. He is a board-certified Public Health and General
Preventive Medicine doctor, practicing medicine since 1974. Dr.
Tezak has spent the majority of his career in the public health
sector treating communicable diseases and is experienced in treating
a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
He also serves as medical director, assessing patients overall
health and evaluating medical conditions that impact the soft tissue
therapy provided by Dr. Payan. He is then able to assess patient
progress with the therapy in an objective manner and provide
feedback and suggestions. Adding an important element of care to the
Soft Tissue Medical Center, Dr. Tezak is able to prescribe
prescription medication to patients as needed and is also able to
communicate with patient’s personal physician on a
physician-to-physician basis.
Dr. Tezak enjoys the face-to-face interaction with patients he
experiences at Soft Tissue Medical Center. He spends time getting to
know patients, listening to their concerns in a non-hurried setting,
answering their questions, relieving their concerns and treating
them with the dignity and respect that patients deserve.
Prior to joining the Soft Tissue Medical Center, Dr. Tezak was
employed by the Monterey County Health Department for more than 20
years, most recently serving as the Medical Director of the Public
Health Clinic. He has numerous professional achievements, including
the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding performance
as Chief of Preventative Medicine Activity, U.S. Army Regional
Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany. Dr. Tezak has a variety of
articles published in medical journals such as the American Journal
of Epidemiology and the Medical Bulletin of the U.S. Army, Europe.
Dr. Tezak earned his Bachelor’s degree and attended medical school
at Stanford University and received his Masters of Public Health at
the University of California, Berkeley before joining the U.S. Army.
He and his wife, Janet, recently celebrated their 30-year wedding
anniversary. They have three adult children and enjoy life on the
central coast.
